Philadelphia Gateway Classic Cars welcomes a new Fairlane to the
fold. This 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 equipped with a 1965 427 C.I.
Factory Crate Motor and 4 speed manual transmission is a BAD car.
The Fairlane name stood for a certain level of luxury and comfort.
Not in this case though. This Fairlane 500 is inspired by it's
racing cousin the THUNDERBOLT. The car was redone in 2006. The body
was completely stripped and returned to what is believed to be the
factory color. No panels needed to be replaced. It is done in a
deep Maroon. Of course, the Thunderbolt teardrop hood scoop has
been added. When you open the hood on this car you are overwhelmed
by engine. The Thunderbolt style grille fed induction system makes
it clear that this car is built to run. Large tube thunderbolt
reproduction headers, MSD electronic ignition, high output starter
and an aluminum water pump are some of the performance
modifications done to this Fairlane. The rear is a 9 inch Ford unit
with 3:50 gears. Inside the car is the stock interior in excellent
condition. There is a 60's style column tachometer and a tri gauge
setup under the dash to monitor the vitals. The race car feel means
no frills on this car it is radio delete and a bench with floor
shifter. The look, the feel, the sound it is all there but the best
is yet to come. Turn the key and be prepared to be impressed. This
car SCREAMS. This 1964 Fairlane grinds the asphalt. There is no
doubt that the 427 CI Big Block Ford is a force to be reckoned
with. Smooth acceleration and firm shifts send the message that
there is allot more left under the hood to be released when the
time is right. To view this 1964 Ford Fairlane. in greater detail,
