For Sale: 1954 Aston Martin DB 2/4 MKI in Huntington Station, New York

Vehicle Description

1954 ASTON MARTIN DB2/4 DROPHEAD COUPE BY GRABER
--Dove Grey with Dark Blue leather Interior, Grey carpeting, Blue Mohair top, 4-Speed manual transmission, 15,000 miles from new and prior to a superb restoration by well-known Aston Martin marque specialist.

In 1954 LML 562 DB2/4 was send to Carrosserie Graber of Switzerland for a custom Drophead Coupé conversion. Distinct from its Tickford-built counterparts, the Graber had many elements that were typical Aston Martin traits – to some the Graber elements offered a much cleaner overall shape.

This DB2 car was first ordered by A.N. Norrish Esq. of Genova-Quarto, Italy. It was sent as a bare chassis directly from Aston Martin for a full Graber transformation. Graber’s techniques differed from those in the UK. The entire front of the body was fabricated in aluminum with everything behind the front windscreen in steel. This technique allowed Graber engineers to weld the body directly to the chassis. The doors and posts were supported by wooden oak framing.

Build details of the car were excellent quality craftsmanship, Bosch switches, Smiths instruments, Marchal lights, Dunlop tires and Armstrong shock absorbers. The Graber car retained the best hallmarks of the DB2/4 with its 125 bhp inline-6 and 4-speed transmission.

This DB2/4 was completed in May of 1955 and sold through the Stierli Garage in Zürich, Switzerland. After spending considerable time in Switzerland, the car was put in long term storage in Basel. There it stayed until 2007 when it was sold to Los Angeles. Not long after, the DB was subject to a comprehensive restoration by Kevin Kay Restorations, Redding California. 1000 hours alone was spent on the bodywork which was finished in Dove Grey with Dark Blue leather interior.

Upon completion, LML 562 debuted at the 2010 Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance and placed third place in the Post-War Sports & Touring class.

Today the car remains in Concours condition throughout and is a stunning example of a rarely seen superb coachbuilt Aston.
