Vehicle Description
This special-order Shelby GT500KR is one of only 20 Shelby
convertibles painted WT6066 yellow, and one of only 7 yellow Shelby
convertibles equipped with air conditioning. It was retired from
daily driver duty in 1978 and, during the next 20 years, the car
and its growing collection of NOS replacement parts passed through
the hands of several collectors. In the late 1990s this car, 03900
received the restoration it deserved, and in the early 2000s was
refreshed by a professional shop. All of the fiberglass was sourced
from Ford and all trim and ornamentation is original or NOS. A
correct interior includes a Cobra-branded shifter, a correct
console and a rim-blow tilt steering wheel. Under the skin, a
roster of NOS and painstakingly date-coded components complement a
correct 428ci Cobra Jet engine and a date-correct C6 automatic
transmission. A rebuilt factory chassis hangs a correct 9" axle,
complete with correct 3.00 gears, between factory power steering,
power front disc and rear drum brakes, and 10-spoke Shelby alloy
wheels wrapped in Goodyear bias-ply tires. The sale of this
exclusive GT500KR includes restoration photos, a Marti Auto Works
Elite Report and a letter of authentication from Jim Wicks, SAAC
Regional Director and Event Chairman.
