There is a reason why the Land Cruiser is Toyota's longest running
series. It has proven itself all over the world in the most extreme
climates and situations as the go to vehicle for all things
versatile. From adventure to taxi cabs this iconic 4WD has exceeded
the expectations of most and has one of the largest followings of
any thing on the road today. Although the Land Cruiser was
developed to take on the Bantam Jeep during WWII and was directly
influenced by this it took on a form and functionality all its own
just after the war. The FJ40 began production began in 1960 and
went through 1984. Basically a one design vehicle for all those
years, with mechanical and minor cosmetic changes to keep up with
the changing times.
The 1976 FJ 40 Toyota Land Cruiser offered here is sharply finished
off in a very desirable color, Sky Blue. This FJ remains very
original under the hood that houses its bullet-proof inline 6
cylinder engine. Highlights include: 4 Speed manual transmission
with floor mount shifter, Toyotas legendary 4 wheel drive system,
power brakes, added vintage air conditioning, full safari rack, 4
Maxtel spotlights, Factory Style wheels and hubcaps, 5 brand new
tires, rear jump seats, integrated roll bar and removable roof. The
interior has been addressed with newer seat covers, new dash pad,
newer carpet, and still retains its original factory gauges with
all knobs complete. The vehicle starts easily and drives out great
with plenty of power, proper shifting, and stops straight and
true.
Toyota FJ 40's continue to dominate the classic SUV market. Their
classic look, reliability and overall ruggedness keep these
vehicles on the short list of many. One in this condition and this
