Vehicle Description
The convertible Corvette returned mid year in 1986 after being
absent from the lineup since 1975. The new "C4" convertible was
selected to pace the 70th running of the Indianapolis 500.
Convertible production totaled 7,315 units and each was recognized
as an Indy Pace Car edition which came with the Pace Car decal
package for dealer or customer installation. All 1986 convertibles
also received the new aluminum cylinder heads which provided weight
savings in addition to a slight bump in horsepower. The actual pace
car and festival cars used at the track on race day were yellow
with graphite leather interior. The pace car was driven by Chuck
Yeager in 1986 and the race winner was Bobby Rahal. The car offered
here is 1 of only 732 yellow cars, it's all original including the
Goodyear VR50 "Gatorback" tires and has just 5,000 miles since new!
It's the right color, it has the optional graphite leather sport
seats and the rare 4+3 manual transmission. This is an investment
quality example. Please call Tom or Dave at (407) 428-0116 for
details. All cars are shown by appointment. Please be sure to call
or email before visiting as we do not keep regular hours at our
warehouse. Thanks for looking!
