Vehicle Description
Here is a really fine and original example of a Silver Shadow II.
Finished in rare Exeter blue (non-metallic) with pale blue/grey
fine lines to the waist-rails and beauty rings. A very stunning
colour and not often seen here in the US. The interior has handsome
rich dark blue Connolly hides with contrasting light grey/blue
Wilton wool carpets with dark blue piping. The same grey/blue theme
carries through to the boot. This is a beautiful
Californian-all-its-life example that has been nicely maintained
and presents in excellent condition. This west coast car is very
"dry" and has lived a garaged environment. As a result, it has been
freed from the perils of harsh weather and is very clean
underneath. It has always been well maintained and serviced and
comes with its original manual. The Silver Shadow II presented here
has been work-shop inspected with all work needed carried out.
Important costly items such as the hydraulics and brakes are fully
inspected and serviced as required. This includes checking of all
brake hoses and system pressure tested and bled. Once deliverde ot
the new owner, it only wants to driven and emjoyed. The odometer
shows a low 50,000 and although this is not verifiable, the mileage
is commensurate with the condition (particularly when you look at
the condition under the bonnet, brake pedal etc). It is very quiet
and smooth on the road without any of the typical "thumps" and
"rattles" typical of poor (or even averagely) maintained examples
of this model. The interior is in excellent shape. The dark navy
blue leather is in excellent condition with no tears nor fading and
true to its Connolly characteristics. The burr walnut wood
throughout the car is to die for. All recently having been done by
Park-Ward to include the dash, centre dash-console, door cappings
and vanity mirrors at a cost of some $3,000. The process was done
in accordance with the Rolls-Royce "multi-layer lacquering
technique" which involves painstaking wet sanding and buffing by
hand between all coats. The final finish on the wood throughout is
simply stunning and is like glass. And, you have to thank Mother
Nature for its beauty. The rich ochre and heavy grain and pattern,
particularly on the dash presents strikingly. The head lining and
rear parcel shelf is brand new broad cloth wool form the UK and
simply stunning to factory standards. It was only redone because of
a tear that was above the right rear seating position. The carpets
with leather binding are also brand new as we thought we would go
the whole-hog with the new headlining and wood. The boot (trunk)
carpet with the same theme is also in good condition but there is
some slight mismatch in the carpet behind the passenger seat.
Perhaps we may change this. The body on this Shadow II is very
straight and the paint is shiny and lustrous having undergone a
full repaint some 10 years ago. Although a colour change from Shell
grey, you would not tell and is simply gorgeous in Exetor Blue. It
is entirely consistent and deep in gloss. There are some odd nicks
and marks but very minor indeed and certainly nothing objectionable
and simply pointed out for clear disclosure. Rest assured the paint
presents very well as you can see in the photos. When you look down
the sides of the car, they are very straight and true. Certainly,
the paint needs nothing other than a wax from time to time. The
hand painted "RR" motifs on the front doors are a very elegant
touch. The car is pictured with an "average" set of white-wall
tyres but brand new ones will be supplied and fitted upon sale. The
hubcaps are excellent however, having just been machined buffed and
polished so there are no imperfections in the stainless nor beauty
rings, for that matter. All remaining bright-work is in good
condition. All electrics have been checked right down to the
smallest and insignificant dash and courtesy light. The car is of
very high standard and is an easy 10 out of 10 driver rating.
