Description
1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z28
History
The third-generation Chevrolet Camaro was introduced for the 1982
model year by Chevrolet.
It continued to use General Motors' F-body platform and were also
the first Camaros with factory fuel injection, four-speed automatic
transmissions, five-speed manual transmissions, four-cylinder
engines, 16-inch wheels, and hatchback bodies.
Why This Car Is Special
You might remember the Camaro was the car that you could see at the
IROC races back in the day with the worlds best drivers. The 1986
Chevrolet Camaro we have here at Skyway Classics is a great example
of what Chevrolet produced stock, and then what an owner might
modify later. This Camaro is going to get you a lot of attention as
soon you leave your driveway.
Mechanical
1986 was the final year for the L69 5.0 305 HO 4-bbl option, but
ours has been re-built to a 383 Stroker Motor that was modified and
as you can see is now running with an aluminum intake, high
performance carb, chrome valve covers, headers, high performance
spark plug wires, chrome fuel line with gauge, high performance
open air cleaner, modified ignition and distributor, pistons,
different Comp Cam and kit with 1.6 rocker arms, pushrods, and
soooo much more including a reworked automatic Turbo 350
transmission and kit.
It rides on the factory 5-spoke wheels and high performance tires
and emits a great sound out the rear muffler.
Interior
The red bucket seat cloth interior is in good shape with some
performance additions too. There is a high performance tachometer,
aftermarket gauges, as well as a padded three spoke steering wheel
and center console with tan carpet.
Exterior
The Camaro has all the great factory lines it was famous for in
white factory paint with the IROC and Z-28 badges and emblems plus
a great cowl induction hood that really sets the car apart from a
stock one.
A newly required Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) was
installed on the Camaro. 1986 was the only year to see this
attached to the outside hatchback glass on base model Sport Coupes,
Z28s and IROC-Zs except for 1987 base models that did not have a
spoiler.
Conclusion
The 1986 Camaro Z28 IROC we have at Skyway Classics is a great
muscle car you can drive and have fun in and won't break the bank
in the process. It is fun, fast, and affordable. Come see it
today.
