Vehicle Description
Looking and running great, this 1974 Chevrolet Corvette convertible
is one seriously inviting open air ride that comes along at a
perfect time as summer looms just around the bend. It's a fitting
example of the Corvette's inspired third generation styling and
carries a nice array of features in good working order, along with
build and maintenance receipts to document the care it's
received.
This '74's clean white paint complements its curved form nicely.
Few production vehicles resemble their concept car inspirations as
closely as this third generation 'Vette resembles the Mako Shark II
that drew crowds when it was unveiled, and with Chevy having the
opportunity to make subtle adjustments over the span of a few
years, it's both futuristic-looking and refined at the same time.
It's also come through the years in very good order, obviously
benefiting from the care it's received, and from front to back
you'll find well-aligned body panels and signature hidden
headlights that sit flush when not in use and raise on cue when
called upon. Should you find yourself behind the wheel of this
iconic open-air classic as the skies darken, the saddle-colored
vinyl convertible top lifts into place easily and looks great set
against the white of the rest of the car - it's a nice change from
the black or white options you normally see and features a very
clear plastic window in back. Clean badging on its front fenders
and tail, as well as very clear lights fore and aft, really add to
its finished appearance.
Climb inside and you'll appreciate the condition of the saddle
leather interior you're surrounded by. The pair of high-backed
buckets have held their form well and have plenty of padding for
comfort, and they straddle a signature inclined center console that
offers some additional storage space and a convenient place to rest
your elbow while behind the wheel. There's a nice selection of
comfort features on hand that make this 'Vette a great choice for
frequent driving, including air-conditioning that's blowing strong
and cold - a fairly uncommon feature in a mid '70s drop-top - power
windows and a steering column that both tilts and telescopes so
that you can get the wheel into perfect position. Even for a car
that's received its share of good care over the years, its interior
components are in impressive working condition - the gauges are
nice and clear, the electric windows raise and lower smoothly and
even the clock sitting just above the center console, as well as
the nearby AM/FM radio, work just as intended.
A 350-cubic inch V8 sits under the hood, teaming with a 3-speed
automatic TH400 transmission to make for a drivetrain that's not
only fully original, but still at the top of its game. Everything
is in place to indicate that this vintage 'Vette is very road-ready
- it's got power disc brakes in front and back, and with a
relatively new master cylinder in place, it stops promptly and
securely. A look below will reveal the solid floorpans and straight
frame rails you'd hope for. Combine this Corvette's low-slung
stance with its precise power steering and you have a great
handling corner carver that cruises on a set of 15" stock Chevy
rims, outfitted with Goodyear Eagle RH tires.
A striking vintage appearance, a strong running combination and
open-air driving excitement make this 1974 Chevrolet Corvette
convertible a terrific addition to any garage. Call today!
