Vehicle Description
This 1968 Plymouth Barracuda is a very sharp specimen of its rarely
seen classic '60s model. It's sporting a high-impact exterior color
that's sure to attract attention and is in just the strong running
condition you'd want in a frequent driver. It'll be a great score
for the classic enthusiast looking for a capable vintage ride you
won't often see at cruise nights or on the boulevard.
The Barracuda was brought out as Plymouth's very first competitor
in the muscle car market a few years before this '68 rolled off the
line, and while its previous generation was already an undeniably
sporty car, Plymouth wisely realized just how serious the
competition would get in this high-visibility niche and really
upped its game when the second iteration of the model came out. The
result is this more aggressive looking car, with its fittingly
high-impact Sublime green exterior, that features a substantial
amount of model specific body panels to give it a look that not
only sets it apart from its competitors, but from other Plymouth
models of its era, as well. The rear roofline has an almost
fastback contour and the wide wheel openings really put its flashy
rims on display. The paint is in great shape - it appears recently
applied and its sheer brightness will bring a smile to your face.
With some attention focused on its chrome components, this
Barracuda can be taken to the next level.
There's a very appealing muscle car sensibility to the interior,
with black vinyl front buckets and rear bench seats that have
plenty of miles left in them and don't show any major issues on
their surfaces. The center console running between them sports a
very cool automatic shifter, while just in front a trio of
underdash gauges sits in place to cool or heat the cabin as needed.
Everything's present and accounted for in the dash just beyond the
stock steering wheel, and the original AM/FM radio still sits front
and center. While the entire area is more than serviceable in its
present state - you'll have no trouble reading its clear gauges and
there aren't any glaring blemishes - a few touchups will have it
looking outright sharp. All seems well with the trunk area in back
- a full-size spare sits in its proper position, and with no lining
on its floor, you can see how solid and well-aligned everything is
inside.
This classic Plymouth is ready to hit the street as soon as you get
it home. A 318 cubic inch V8 sits under the hood, crowned with a
4-barrel Magneti Marelli carb that sits under a chrome Edelbrock
air cleaner, with a pair of Edelbrock valve covers at its sides.
It's pulling strong and sounding great as it exhales into the
headers leading to its Flowmaster exhaust, and the accompanying
3-speed automatic transmission shifts with slip-free precision.
With power brakes at all four corners - discs in front - and smooth
power steering, this classic stops with confidence-inspiring
promptness and navigates easily as it cruises on a set of very cool
17" Chrysler wheels outfitted with BF Goodrich T/A radials.
An agile muscle car that represented a high-water mark for its
MoPar brand, this 1968 Plymouth Barracuda would be a great,
road-ready acquisition for any collector. Call today!
