There's something to be said for owning a classic car that you can
enjoy daily if you so choose. And as we see a younger generation
start to show interest in the muscle and pony cars of old, here at
Shelton Classics and Performance we have started to notice a trend
from buyers of both young and old. Lately, an increasing number of
buyers are specifically hunting a great looking car that is a blast
to drive, has plenty of power on tap, and has a timeless look. They
don't want a trailer queen, they aren't concerned with numbers
matching, and more often than not, the importance isn't necessarily
present or future collectability, but instead only one thing
matters... How does it drive?! Which brings us to this absolutely
gorgeous '68 Mustang convertible.
This Mustang is a fully-sorted weekend cruiser that is perfect to
show off at the local cruise in or car show, but trust us you wont
want to leave it parked there for long. 5-minutes behind the wheel,
and you'll appreciate this car on a whole new level. Today this
convertible sits in one of the best Mustang colors of all time -
Raven Black. Fully painted in March of 2018, that body is nearly
laser straight and was buffed and wetsanded to a near perfect
mirror like finish. The blueish silver pinstripe down the body is a
great addition that ties into the interior nicely. Inside you'll
find a very clean and tidy standard bucket seat interior that shows
little to no wear. The blue bucket seats are in great shape and the
black carpet ties in very nicely to the outside.
Pop open the hood and you'll find a fully detailed engine bay that
houses a 302ci V8 that has been outfitted with a Edelbrock 4-bbl
carburetor, Edelbrock performer intake and chrome valve covers. The
engine also has more tasteful upgrades like, HEI distributor, power
steering and if you look closely you'll see the 4-wheel disc brakes
that help ensure its ready for a simple 10-minute drive up the
block or a 250 mile drive to a show.
Underneath shows well, you'll notice that some one has replaced
sections of the floor but all were done very cleanly. We've seen
undersides cleaner, but this car is meant to be driven and enjoyed,
so you wouldn't want it show worthy. You'll also see the Ford 8.8"
Rear End with a highway friendly rear gear stuffed in it, dual
exhausts outfitted with Flowmaster Mufflers and electric cutouts.
and new shocks at all four corners. At the corners you'll see the
18" Vision wheels that show off the 4-wheel drilled and slotted
rotors very nicely.
If you are in the market for an incredible pony car that is certain
to become the envy of everyone you know, then this is it! We've
seen a lot of mustangs come through here in various stages of
condition, but if you are hunting a toy you can enjoy and actually
put on the street, but don't want to shell out $50k for a trailer
queen, then you would be hardpressed to find a nicer Mustang than
this!
