1962 Chevrolet Corvette in Uncasville, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

The original owner ordered this one of 246 Corvettes with the RPO 687 heavy-duty brake ad special steering packages for drag racing, but requested to have the drivetrain not installed from the factory and to be delivered with the ‘Vette in a crate. Due to certain circumstances, the original owner never completed the car and it sat until the '70s, when Tom McNeil purchased it. He installed the drivetrain and completed the build, but never put oil in the engine or acid in the battery. This special car has never been started and has zero miles on the odometer. After its completion it was shown a few times and took First Place. McNeil then put the car on display for decades at the Floyd Garrett Muscle Car Museum until 2017. This Corvette is a true time capsule that has been very well-preserved, right down to the original tires. Like everything else, the battery, interior, 327/360hp 8-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission are original. This Roman Red racer sold new through Lafayette Chevrolet in Charlotte, NC, with the special order RPO Fuelie engine, big brake package, and heater and radio delete.
