Vehicle Description
Here's a classic droptop that's ready to get out on the road and
impress just as soon as you get it home. This 1970 Ford Mustang
convertible is looking great and running strong, and it's standing
by to bring its vintage charm to your daily driving routine -
whether that includes short jaunts down the boulevard or longer,
spur of the moment road trips.
This is one great looking classic Pony. It's decked out in very
sharp, well-applied red paint with a number of very cool
contrasting black accents that really pop against their background
- the air dam and ramrod straight grille, the spoiler and taillight
panel and a functional scoop on the hood. You have to take a lap
around the car from up close to appreciate the fit and finish it
offers - its glossy paint really highlights it body contour, and as
you follow it from front to back, you'll notice how level it is as
it transitions from the front fender to the door to the rear
quarter panels. Its array of chrome is also well-represented - both
the trim surrounding the windshield and the pair of hood pins are
looking good, and the front and back bumpers sit level and line up
well with their surrounding metal. Should you find yourself out on
the road when the weather takes an unexpected turn, the power black
convertible top will rise into position to protect you from the
elements, and it even offers an impressively clear plastic rear
window.
Inside the doors is a black vinyl interior that's been brought into
great shape. Ford went to higher backed bucket seats with headrests
for safety about a year before this '70 rolled out and the pair on
display here are in great shape - they're well-padded and
comfortable, without much wear at all on their surfaces. A lot of
commonly unresolved restoration details have been looked after
here, so you'll find that the clean, straight dash beyond the
woodgrain steering wheel carries a set of very fresh-looking gauges
in its cluster, and a supple looking dash pad over the top, clean
black carpeting lines the floor and sharp looking handles sit in
place on the door panels. Pull out your cassette collection,
because you'll get a great opportunity to put it to use in the
classic-style AM/FM/cassette system sitting at the center of the
dash to power beefy Jensen speakers mounted in the doors. The trunk
area in back is in good order and offers plenty of luggage space
for those weekend getaways.
Slide behind the wheel, turn the key and you'll quickly hear the
confidence-inspiring sound of an engine that's at the top of its
game. A 302 cubic inch V8 sits underneath the hood and, carrying a
Demon 4-barrel carb on top and fed a supply of cold dense air via
that hood scoop, it's running strong and sounding great. The small
block engine teams with a 3-speed automatic transmission to make
for a rock-solid drivetrain you'll have no qualms about taking on
the road - wherever your journeys take you. By the time this '70
debuted, Ford was already installing precise power steering that
avoided the numb feel plaguing some of its competitors, so this
classic Pony handles great, and its power brakes - with discs up
front - provide dependable stopping power as it prowls the road on
a set of 15" stock Mustang rims, outfitted with BF Goodrich T/A
radials.
