This is the information on the 1950 Chevy Sedan. I just bought it
from a collector in Philadelphia. I have documentation of its
history, including the original sales brochure. The original owner,
Joanna Potter was a school teacher in Philadelphia who went on to
become principal of her school. She owned it until age 90; her
husband's niece took the car and showed it for a few years, after
which, it sat in his garage because of health issues for both he
and his wife.
The engine has been overhauled; new rings, aluminum pistons. It is
an excellent driver. The brakes were overhauled, new gas tank and
fuel line, and 5 new Coker B.F. Goodrich radial tires installed.
The paint is original except for the right front door and fender;
the elderly school principal had an "uh-oh" with her garage door
frame.
The interior is all original. The headliner is in good original
condition. The original rear carpet and front mat are in very good
condition. The door panels are in good condition except the driver
door which bears evidence of wear by the driver's elbow. The
armrests need recovering as the foam is deteriorated and the cord
around the driver door is frayed. The cord around the other three
doors is in very good original condition. The seats are usable, but
should be re-padded to be more comfortable, of need reupholstering
to be perfect.
It has many options including, Powerglide automatic transmission,
fender skirts, wide white wall radial tires, turn signals, dual
side view mirrors, oil filter, bumper guards, grill guard, pumper
ends, and deluxe hood ornament.
I have all receipts and have the original owner's manual in the
glove box. It has 45,203 miles on the odometer. A few items have
been re-chromed, but I try to do little as possible to preserve
originality.
