For Sale: 1956 Ford Thunderbird in Aledo, Texas

Vehicle Description

Equipped with Y-block V8, Fordomatic, power steering, power brakes, power seats.  Has removable hard top, white vinyl convertible top,& tonneau cover.  Also has factory-equipped fender skirts.  This T-Bird has an original look and efforts have been made to keep her in original-type condition.  Since I purchased car in 2006, most maintenance/upkeep parts from Thunderbird specialists. Engine had been rebuilt in 2004 and transmission in 2005.  Both of these were verified before purchase in 2006.  Car has straight body, with minor chips, dings, and has solid floor pan, trunk pan, etc.  Can be used “as is” or would be a good candidate for full restoration, or anywhere in between.

Upgrades not original to car: seat belts, generator converted to alternator, heavy-duty radiator w/electric fan, chrome headlight trim (from 55 Fairlane) Also comes with original headlight rims.

Over the past 12 years, maintenance items included new sun visors, new tail light lenses, all hoses and belts, new ignition switch, license plate light and assembly, fuel gauge sending unit, speedometer cable, park brake cable, etc.  Items replaced in last 3-5 years: dual aluminiized mufflers and exhausts, fuel pump and fuel lines, starter, all power steering hoses and ram cylinder, newly-rebuilt power brake booster.

History:  According to previous owners, car was purchased in California around 1969 and brought to Sherman, TX, where it was owned by two or more enthusiasts in Sherman. When the last owner died, the car was sold by widow and brought to Aledo, TX in 2004.  These owners had engine and transmission rebuilt and engine compartment painted coral, in anticipation of a complete restoration.  Their plan for car charged when a business opportunity arose and I bought the car in 2006 and painted the engine bay black.  Car was sold originally as Colonial White with Fiesta Red interior, but changed to current color in 1970 or ‘71.  This accounts for the old appearance of paint and interior.
