BAD TO THE BONE!

ATTENTION ALL CAMARO ENTHUSIASTS!

THIS CAR WAS BUILT TO LOOK GREAT AND BE EXTREMELY USER FRIENDLY!

MS CLASSIC CARS HAS COLLECTED, SOLD AND SEEN THOUSANDS OF FIRST GENERATION CAMAROS OVER THE YEARS.  HOWEVER, WE’VE NEVER OWNED ONE WITH A GM ZZ572 CRATE ENGINE. I’VE ALWAYS WANTED A CLASSIC CAR WITH A 572!  THESE ENGINES ARE RATED AT 620HP AND ANY CLASSIC CAR ENTHUSIAT KNOWS THERE AWSOME.  THE REASON YOU DON’T SEE MANY FIRST GENERATION CAMAROS WITH A 572 IS BECAUSE THERE VERY EXPENSIVE AND A LOT OF MODIFICATIONS NEED TO BE DONE SO IT FITS.  AS AN EXAMPLE THE BLOCK IS TALLER THEN A 502 SO A LOT OF ITEMS HAVE TO BE MODIFIFED FOR CLEARANCE SUCH AS THE HOOD, PULLEY SYSTEM, STEERING UNIT, ALTERNATOR UNIT, HEADERS, RADIATOR, WIPER MOTOR, ETC. THE OTHER THING IS MAKING SURE ONCE IT’S INSTALLED IT ALL WORKS PROPERLY.  SOME OF THE CAMAROS THAT I’VE SEEN WITH 572 ENGINES WEREN’T DONE PROPERLY AND IT SHOWS IN THE DETAILS. THIS 1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO NOT ONLY LOOKS EXCELLENT BUT IT ALSO PERFORMANCES EXCELLENT!

STORY:

MS CLASSIC CARS purchased this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS locally in May of 2014 from an older gentleman who owned the car for a few years.  The car was a complete rotisserie restoration and only had about 1500 on it since completion. It was equipped with some older style wheels, new standard interior, 350 engine and turbo 350 transmission with 10 bolt rear.  The car was born an original SS model.  As the first 5 digits of the VIN indicate it was an 8cyl and the trim tag X11 indicates it was a Super Sport.  A breakdown of the VIN number and trim tag is listed below.  The car was born Azure Turquoise which is a beautiful color.  Once I spent some time checking the car over I was very impressed and it only made sense that I would turn this cat into a lion!  At the time I didn’t have my own service department so I sent the car to a local shop to do the build.  I should’ve realized how much time and money it was going to take.  I ended up upgrading tons of things from top to bottom.  After it was all said and done I invested almost $100,000!  This included the original cost of the restored car and all the things I had done with parts and labor after the fact.  As an example I had almost $20,000 invested in just the engine including the March Performance pulley system and headers.  Photos of the car after completion can be seen on the sold page of our website.

Once the car was completed I sold it shortly after I listed it for sale to an older gentleman who lived in Maryland.  He treated this car like a baby and kept it covered inside of his garage.  During his ownership he wanted to change the wheels so he added a new set of 15” American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with Redline tires.  This required changing the size of the brakes as well.  He only drove the car a few hundred miles which mostly consisted of local car shows.  Unfortunately he passed in 2017.  His son contacted me about purchasing the car back which I agreed to do.  This car was his father’s pride and joy. He knew I’d find a great home for it.  I purchased the car back in February of 2018.  We stored the car in our warehouse for a few months until recently.  We completely serviced and detailed the car making it ready for the new owner.  Most of the service work didn’t have to be done.  We did it to take it to another level.

***MS CLASSIC CARS PURCHASES BEAUTIFUL CLASSIC VEHILCES THAT WE’VE COMPLETELY SERVICED AND DETAILED UNLIKE MOST CLASSIC VEHICLES THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING ADVERTISED FOR SALE. THIS IS DOCUMENTED WITH AN INVOICE PICTURED BELOW.  WE’LL LET THE PHOTOS DO THE REST OF THE TALKING***

MS CLASSIC CARS INVESTED A TOTAL OF $5,203.44 SERVICING THIS VEHICLE INCLUDING PARTS AND LABOR.  AN INVOICE IS PICTURED BELOW THAT DOCUMENTS EVERYTHING.  MS CLASSIC CARS ALSO INVESTED $600.00 IN DETAILING THE VEHILCE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM.

The exterior body of this car is very nice and straight.  All of the gaps are nice as well. The Corvette Stinger style hood is fiberglass and very light weight.  Please keep in mind fiberglass hoods have advantages but they tend to bow a little so they don’t always line up flush with the top of the fenders. The doors and deck lid open and close excellent!

The car was painted in its original color of Azure Turquoise. It was complimented by black accents on the Stinger hood cowl, hockey stripe, quarter shark fins and rear deck lid single strip.  The paint on this car is beautiful and the color really POPS. It’s a show quality paint job that’s virtually flawless.  When was the last time you’ve seen a Camaro in this color with accents like this.  This is a really sweet looking car!

The car originally came with black interior with bucket seats so it only made sense to customize the interior in black.  This interior is all new and in beautiful condition.  Everything was tastefully done and everything just flows together.  An example would be the gauges match the steering wheel, etc. Everything is in working order.

The engine compartment is highly detailed and home to the massive GM ZZ572 crate engine rated at 620HP.  Yes, this is the real deal!  The engine cowl area and firewall is in beautiful condition. The fiberglass Corvette Stinger style hood is attached to Billet hinges with pumps.  These function really nice and are pro show.  The inner fenders are also beautiful and have adjustable aluminum fender braces that match the hinges!

The idea behind building this car was to make it not only look the excellent but also perform excellent.  Big blocks with this kind of power are normally a hassle to operate.  My shop wanted this car to be extremely user friendly and that’s exactly what it is.  You literally get into the car turn the key and it starts immediately.  Rather than using the GM recommended Demon 1000 carburetor my shop decided on a Holley 850 4 barrel with electric choke.  This makes the engine much easier to operate with no issues starting and stopping multiple times.  I’ve owned hundreds of classic cars over the years and this is one of the best running ones I’ve experienced.  It warms up within a few minutes, runs smooth, drives great in both city and highway and has no overheating issues with the massive custom built aluminum radiator.  Depending what mood you’re in you can drive it like an animal or cruise it down the road.

The engine is coupled to a custom built 700R4 HD transmission with overdrive.  This transmission shifts great and allows for all types of driving whether it is around town or on the highway.

The transmission is connected to a newly rebuilt GM 12 bolt POSI rear end with 3.73 gears.  It has a Moser aluminum differential cover.  This rear end was made to handle to pavement pounding power of the 572!

The undercarriage of this car is really nice and clean. Everything was restored or replaced during the restoration.  This car has both power steering and power brakes.
