Vehicle Description
Absolutely gorgeous 1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible finished in
Thunderbird Blue with a White Hardtop, and an equally beautiful
two-tone Turquoise and White interior. Correct 292ci/198hp
'Y-Block' V8 engine with a 3-speed Ford-O-Matic Trans. Built on
February 21, 1955, this early production example of the rare and
desirable First Generation '55 T-Bird was subject to a complete
bare-metal professional restoration in 2008, which was then
masterfully finished in correct Ford Turquoise base with clearcoat,
and has under 1,000 pampered sunny-day miles since. Restored
interior. Converted to a modern 12-volt electrical system. Power
steering and brakes. Electric seat and windows. Air Conditioning.
Other unique features for this T-Bird are rear fender skirts, and
the exhaust pipes exiting through twin gleaming chrome bumper
guards, which are bolted to the brightly shining chrome rear bumper
- this neat detail was only on the '55 T-birds.This 1955
Thunderbird is a very well-preserved example of the classic
American roadster, it also has the highly desirable factory
"port-hole" windows hardtop. This example is the product of a
professional restoration and has been lovingly and expertly cared
for ever since. It is presented in classic Thunderbird Blue over a
two-color Turquoise and White interior. The restoration was
undertaken with an eye to keeping this T-Bird as close to the way
it rolled off the assembly line in early 1955 as possible. The body
boasts correct panels gaps and fit, all of the brightwork has been
refinished or replated, and the car even rides on wide white wall
tires with correct factory wheel covers. The engine bay is also
restored to new-stock condition, with an eye toward originality
throughout. The interior is expertly restored to a very high level
and presents extremely well, with finishings, gauges, knobs, and
controls all in outstanding condition.Features and details that are
unique to the early '55 Thunderbirds include; 6-Volt electrical
system (this car has been professionally converted to modern 12v
system), Ford crest and crossed flag emblems, Flat 2-spoke steering
wheel with clear plastic spokes and domed hub - the steering wheel
is so neat, if you've never seen one please take a look at the
photos. No front fender vents, No sun visors on production units,
Chrome "doughnut" exhaust ring (early production cars only),
Wedge-shaped heater knobs. No vent windows.Ford's Thunderbird
created to act as a retort to the Chevrolet Corvette, but rather
than becoming a rival to the European sports cars imported into the
United States, Ford created a completely new market segment around
the Thunderbird, the personal luxury car. While a performance car
in its own right, the Thunderbird focused more on comfort than
speed. A total of 53,166 units were produced for the three model
years 1955-1957, with only 16,155 made in 1955.Included with this
fabulous T-Bird are; Owner's manuals, extra Key, service records,
spare tire and jack, car cover. This car is ready to drive, show
and enjoy for many years to come. For more information on this
