Introduced in 2000 the Honda S2000 came to the market with one
goal: driving fun. It has the stuff sports-car fantasies are made
of: a front-engine, rear-drive layout; a six-speed, close-ratio
manual transmission; an unequal-length control-arm suspension all
around; disc brakes; and supportive, firm bucket seats-in a package
that weighs less than 2800 pounds. The S2000's crown jewel,
however, is a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine
pumping out an incredible 240 horsepower at 8300 rpm and revving to
an 8900-rpm redline. Honda's small, rev-happy engine cre-ates a
wonderfully unique driving experi-ence and proudly held the
industry record for power-to-liter ratio for over a decade. This
breakthrough engine features the VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and
Lift Electronic Control) system developed by Honda that improves
the volumetric efficiency of the engine resulting in higher
performance at high RPM and lower fuel consumption at low RPM.
Beyond the potent powerplant is the terrific chassis that includes
independent double wishbone suspension, electrically assisted
steering and four-wheel disc brakes. The tuning is nearly perfect,
and the weight distribution rounds to an ideal 50/50. This
first-year example is in immaculate, nearly flawless, condition and
has been exquisitely maintained with only 12K miles on the
odometer. The original owner went to great lengths to maintain a
pristine finish by having 100% of the exterior surfaces
professionally wrapped in paint protection film. The results show
as the glossy black paint looks showroom new without any
