For Sale: 1961 Jaguar E-Type in Huntington Station, New York

Vehicle Description

1961 JAGUAR E-TYPE LIGHTWEIGHT
--Racing Green with Black factory correct removable hardtop with Green period leather bucket seats, All-Alloy body, 1,500 miles from new, factory correct with HTP/FIA Papers Original Lightweight build by RS Panels UK.

Starting life as a 1961 E-type tub, this E-type was the personal project of James Smith and the team at RS Panels for his father Bob Smith, founder of RS Panels. Numbered RSP 003, this E-type received an all new aluminum body shell to original Lightweight E-type specifications. It was completed in November 2006 after several years in the build process to ensure it would be one of the finest most exacting E-type Lightweight recreations, able to receive its FIA papers and thus acknowledged and eligible for some of the finest touring and racing events in the world, including the Goodwood Revival. This Lightweight E-Type has all the correct period parts and comes with current Historic Technical Passport/FIA papers as stated above. It is equipped as original with a Dry Sump specification 4.2 liter period correct straight 6 engine on 45 DCOE Weber carburetors and has a 4 synchromesh close ratio gearbox.

RS Panels UK is well-known as having worked on 8 of the 12 original Lightweight E-Type’s during their restorations over the last 51 years and more recently built Car Zero for Jaguar Land Rover Group in the UK and have since supported the build process for the six remaining E-type Lightweight Vin Numbers recently built to the exact original specification and each pre-sold for over $1.7 million

After build completion, this Lightweight E-Type was sold to a West Coast U.S. based collector who accrued only break-in mileage and used the car only occasionally. More recently the Lightweight was acquired for the personal collection of Tom Papadopoulos - Autosport Designs, Inc. where it had been occasionally used until participating in the 2015 Copperstate 1000 Road Rally, in fact the 25th year of this acclaimed 1000 mile rally through Arizona. Having personally enjoyed this E-type on this rally, I can confirm that it is absolutely extraordinary and an exceptional rally/tour car in every way. Subsequently, this E-type was sold to a collector in East Hampton, New York, where it has been cared for and serviced, though used sparingly due to the owner’s business schedule.

This special Lightweight Alloy body E-Type makes all other E-types seem ordinary, it is simply a joy to drive! It is now seeking another enthusiast-collector home. I welcome any questions and will be happy to discuss this superb Lightweight E-type and my impressions should anyone have the interest.
