Vehicle Description
The days are getting longer and the weather is heating up. Why not
get behind the wheel of a car that's perfectly suited to make the
most of it? This 2003 Ford Thunderbird sports a really nice color
and a recent thorough detailing has left it looking great. With
just a tad over 17,000 miles on its odometer, it's got miles and
miles of open air driving excitement to offer and comes complete
with an extensive array of features that also make it well-suited
to be your daily driver.
This T-Bird's Desert Sky blue shade is in good shape, sporting a
nice even pigment and no obvious imperfections to diminish its
shine. It's a welcome departure from what you normally see on the
road - sort of a visual homage to its early generation
predecessors, which is fitting because this 11th generation of the
model carries its share of nostalgic styling elements. While, as
the '60s gave way to the '70s its forefathers grew ever larger with
each passing year, in the early days of the model, the Thunderbird
was a sporty, compact two-seater, just like this one, whose subtle
hood scoop, front fender vents and grille are additional nods back
to that first generation. It's got an identity all its own,
however, with a more aerodynamic shape and a more sharply angled
windshield than those before it. It's a sharp looking open-air
cruiser, but should you find yourself out on the road in less
forgiving weather, you'll have a black power convertible top at
your disposal for protection.
As you'd rightfully expect from an interior that's only seen about
a year and a half's worth of use, by most standards, everything
inside the doors looks fresh and shows very little wear. Despite
its potential susceptibility to the effects of the sun, the black
leather surfaces have come through the years unspoiled and you
won't find any signs of pending slits on the black leather buckets
or the top of the dash- even the door panels are free of any of the
oxidation that often occurs after 15 years of life and you'll find
an assortment of gauges in the instrument cluster that haven't lost
any of their clarity. In addition to the vitality you'd want in a
daily driver, there are plenty of comfort features on board, as
well, including air conditioning, heated seats, a tilt column,
cruise control and power windows, power door locks and power seats.
Your audio needs will be well looked after by an AM/FM/CD player
standing by in the center of the dash. The trunk area in back is
nice and tidy, with no stains or disruptions on its charcoal
colored surfaces.
The 3.9-liter DOHC engine sitting under the hood carries 280
horsepower, so when you step into the accelerator, expect this
lightweight drop top to accelerate with enthusiasm. The compact V8
sits at the center of a very clean engine compartment, with no
errant wires or grime anywhere in sight, and teams with a smooth
shifting 5-speed automatic overdrive transmission to make up a
drivetrain that's easy to operate in stop and go driving, yet
provides the performance you're looking for on the open road. There
are anti-lock power disc brakes at all 4 corners, and smooth power
steering makes this Ford a pleasure to drive as it cruises the
asphalt on its set of 17" cast aluminum wheels outfitted with
Michelin tires.
With its timeless good looks and light usage, this 2003 Ford
Thunderbird stands ready with its promise of many future miles of
driving pleasure. Call today!
