For Sale: 1979 Citroen 2CV in Atlanta, Georgia

Vehicle Description

A wonderful example of a 1979 Citroen 2CV with 49,720 Kilometers. This car has the most powerful motor (602cc, about 28hp), a 4-speed manual transmission that shifts in and out of the dash, front disc brakes, fender skirts, round headlamps, and will likely attract more attention than any car you have owned. Kids wave and clap as you drive by, veterans recount stories of being stationed in Europe and "adventures" in these cars, and when driven to a recent show of classic British cars, more people clustered around this 2CV in the parking lot than were gathered around the beautiful Bentleys, MGs, Jaguars, etc. A fun car that makes people smile and wave and that will result in meeting lots of interesting people. The car is simple, cost effective, and easy on fuel. The 2CVs were designed to be versatile for both street and light off-road use, so have long travel 4-wheel independent suspension, disc brakes mounted on the axel toward the middle of the car to keep weight centered, and the roof rolls back to allow a wonderful drive while enjoying the out-of-doors in the spring or fall. 2CVs became available in 1948 and were so innovative that they were produced for 4 more decades with only modest modifications. Parts and servicing options are readily available, and there is a mechanic in Woodstock, GA (Mike the Mechanic) that loves the cars and is happy to work on them - if you happen to be in the Atlanta area. Their quirky charm, mechanical reliability, and collectability, have resulted in them finding parking spots in collections the world over. I purchased the car several years ago from a friend in Washington DC that had shipped it to the US from Germany. I assumed that I would need to drive small roads at low speeds to get it back to Atlanta, but found I could maintain 70mph on the freeways and so drove freeways most of the distance with a "minor" diversion to visit coastal North Carolina on the way. Thus, if you want it for weekends, it is great, but if you want to drive from Atlanta to the Kentucky Derby for a mint julep, you can do that as well.
