Vehicle Description
This 1974 "Flares and Chairs" Ferrari 246 GTS comes to us from one
of our great local clients. The car appears to have started its
life in California. In 1977 Ferrari of San Diego sold the car to
Jay Quinn who only kept it a few years before passing it along to
Andrew Tabor. In 1981 with barely 14,000 miles Andrew sold it to
the local Ferrari Dealer Hollywood Sports cars. From there our
local Ferrari dealer Foreign Cars Italia purchased it and promptly
sold it to local Steve Puckett. Steve loved the car and showed it
often but in the late 80's the original paint had crazed, so he had
it stripped and painted by a legendary painter Leo Stead. Steve
tucked the car away in his garage and when he finally parted with
it in 2005 the paint on the door had crazed again! It seem the
window in his garage had let the sun bake the same spot on his door
all day long for more than a decade.
Our client purchased the car in 2005 with only a little more than
15,000 miles on it. It seemed Mr. Puckett had loved and admired
this Dino so much he rarely drove it. After our client's purchase
he contacted SLR restorations in Pinehurst and commissioned a bare
metal re-spray in the original "Fly Yellow". The body was damn near
spotless with a few tiny spots needing any attention. After its
"freshening" the Dino has enjoyed a few rallies and tours over the
years as well as fanatical maintenance. In 2016 our client thought
he felt a vibration and wasted no time sending it to Peter
Markowski for a complete engine rebuild and service. We have now
traded for this impeccable Dino and offer it with its books, tool
roll, and jack. This is a stunning example with a fantastic history
covering only 15,600 miles since new.
