Vehicle Description
1970 Plymouth Cuda 440
We all know the history and legend behind the 'Cuda. Or at least we
should, right? When Plymouth entered the Pony Car arena in the mid
60s they massaged the tried and true Valiant into something a
little less than highly successful until 1967 when the Barracuda
became it's own model and the suits at Chrysler said it was OK to
add real horsepower and style, not unlike the incarnation of the
GTO at GM. The success of the Barracuda, especially in the Formula
S dress up, led to a realization that, hey there maybe something to
this hi-po small car stuff. Then the car guys were able to take
over and voila the stylish and truly high performance version of
the Barracuda became the 'Cuda. Still one of the greatest marketing
coups of the Muscle Car era. With the new aggressive style and a
host of driveline options that worked for the local librarian, the
stop light to stop light streeters, the newly created Trans Am
circuit, and the Monsters of the quarter mile the Barracuda/Cuda
became an icon. This offering is in the upper rungs of that tall
ladder. Under the bulging hood you will find a 440 V8, but we want
to make it clear this is not an original U code 440 Cuda however,
it is a correct drive line and color combination. It was an
original 383/Automatic car. It comes with the original fender tag.
The original restoration is older and has been freshened up with a
new interior, paint work, wheels and tires, and the suspension and
brakes have been gone through. The 727 Torquflite transmission
shifts great and the Dana 60 with 4.11 Posi does what it is built
to do. As far as driving goes, this 'Cuda is fast and fun. The
previous owner had this car a long time and he built it to enjoy
and drive. We have added Vintage heat and air along with power
steering to make it a more comfortable driver for those of us that
feel the need for speed and comfort today. This is a great
opportunity to own a highly optioned 'Cuda that looks and runs
great. Check out the option level from the fender tag decode under
the features section.
