This 1964.5 Ford Mustang is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom.
Lee Iacocca was Ford's General Manager and the brains behind the
Mustang. He titled the project T-5 and was originally supposed to
be a 2-seat roadster but after being reminded of the baby birds
dismal numbers they quickly reconsidered. With a new design
commissioned the Mustang was born. Released in April of 1964 the
first run Mustangs such as this one is called 64.5's. Built on
4/23/64, a very early 64.5, this example has been meticulously
maintained over the years and still has less than 100k original
miles. The exterior has been repainted back to the original
Wimbledon White using the correct lacquer paint which gives it that
factory original look. The black vinyl top is original to the car
and looks great for being 54 years old. Under the hood is the
original 260 Challenger V8 that still runs like a top. With the
generator still in place as well as the single master cylinder this
exactly what should it be. The Cruise-o-Matic transmission is
original to the car and shifts as it should. The interior is black
vinyl with the center console being original to the car as well.
The AM radio is also original to the car and is in working order if
you can find an AM station still. Open the trunk and an original
style speckled trunk mat is sure to catch your eye. The spare tire
has no cover which is correct for the 64.5's as well. With the car
being owned by 2 individuals in the last 28 years and given its
originality this one is sure to make any Mustang enthusiast a very
happy person. Options on this 1964.5 Ford Mustang include, AM
Radio, Power Steering, Seat Belts, Bias Ply Tires, Hubcaps, Vinyl
Interior, and a Numbers Matching Engine. This 1964.5 Ford Mustang
