Vehicle Description
The best of both worlds. The best of Vintage with a classic, one
year only, 1956 body style. And the best of modern with that body
dropped onto a '99 Explorer 4WD chassis and running gear. It
doesn't get any better than this.
This is an all steel body that has been professionally refurbished
and adapted to the modern chassis. So, even more unique than the
rare '56s, this one is totally unique with mods that were hand
crafted so well you don't even notice. It's the last year for the
separate front fenders, and they were modified to fit the oversized
wheels and tires. Looks factory, doesn't it? After all the mods and
prep by the best craftsmen in the business, that beautiful Mint
Green paint was applied and polished to a perfect finish. The grill
is a gorgeous chrome sculpture with a V8 emblem in the center.
Below it is a simple chrome bumper and above it, a Ford emblem on
the hood. On the side of that hood is a F-100 Ford badge, and in
the corner, a 4X4 emblem. Black running boards with a trick
aluminum diamond plate step lead back to the huge rear fenders and
then the tailgate with another simple bumper that has tailpipes
peeking out from underneath the wooden floored bed.
Open the door and you will find a simple interior dressed in lots
more of that Mint green. Make that, deceptively simple. There's
more sophistication there than initially meets the eye. The first
hint you get of that is the faux Ostrich hide armrest just behind
the chrome door handle and window crank. The modern steering wheel
is a bit of a surprise, but really looks great in there. Behind it
is a dash cluster that looks familiar with its modern speedo,
engine gauges, and indicators for the automatic trans. But where
are all the other controls? And how about a radio? Well, have a
seat on that comfortable Ostrich bench seat, and open the ash tray.
You will find a JVC head unit and a microphone. Reach on over a bit
further, and in the glove box you will the find the Bluetooth
compatible radio along with Vintage Air, heat and A/C controls. A
slick, deceptively simple look to a modern interior.
The chassis and drivetrain are all Explorer. Pop that classic hood,
and you will find a fuel injected 4.0 Liter V6 breathing through a
cold air intake. All the modern systems are there like power
steering along with an A/C compressor driven by a serpentine belt,
and an anti-lock brake system that operates discs at all 4-wheels.
Power from the V6 runs back through the 4-speed automatic trans and
transfer case to a rear axle mounted on leaf springs and a front
axle sprung by torsion bars with an anti-roll bar. The front end
was completely refurbished in the process of the build with new
control arms, ball joints bushings and bearings. Mickey Thompson
wheels mount 31X10.50R15 BFGoodrich All Terrain tires for your 4-WD
pleasure.

would like this truck in your world.
