For Sale in our Detroit Showroom is a very iconic 2009 Ford Mustang
GT Bullitt. For those of you who don't know the history, the cars
are named after McQueen's legendary 1968 police drama/car chase
flick Bullitt, inspired by the green 390 fastback that Det. Frank
Bullitt used to jump over San Francisco's hilly streets and outwit
Dodge-driving bad guys in the movie. Bullitt is one of the most
iconic movies ever made, so if you're going to name a car after it,
it had better not just be some fancy graphics-and-wheels package.
Luckily, this 2009 Bullitt Mustang disappoints in that department.
This 2009 Bullitt arrived on the streets as an enhanced version of
that year's Mustang GT. Upgrades with the Bullitt were its upgraded
engine, suspension and exhaust, much of it courtesy of Ford Racing.
In fact, Ford engineers continually referenced the 1968 film while
tuning the Bullitt's exhaust system, making sure that all the aural
magic of the original was present in the modern version. A revised
intake, 3:73 gears, unique interior trim, upgraded brake pads and
unique wheels rounded out the 2009 Bullitt package. The 90-degree
SOHC 24-valve 4.6-liter V8 was given even more enhancements, the
result meant slight upgrades to 315 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of
torque, and while those numbers seem laughable from a V8 today, it
still got the Bullitt moving from 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds which
is pretty impressive for the new millennium. This particular
Mustang has had quite a few parts replaced recently which include a
new factory replacement engine, clutch, waterpump, oil pump, belts,
plugs and wires, new front tires, and a new blue-tooth radio. This
future collectible will not last long and is sure to please its
next enthusiast. For more information on this Bullitt, visit
