Vehicle Description
For more than 20 years, the Roush name has been synonymous with
well-conceived and well-executed modifications to the Ford Mustang,
encompassing both racing and street applications that not only
improve its capability, but also give it a look that will truly
distinguish it from the rest. This 2000 Ford Mustang Roush Stage 2
is a fitting example of that Roush magic and, decked out in a
suitably flashy color and sporting exceedingly low miles, it will
afford its next lucky owner years of exhilarating driving, not to
mention undeniable bragging rights.
It only takes a quick glance to appreciate all the Roush handiwork
performed on this Mustang. It's a noticeably modified car, no
doubt, but every change performed on its Zinc Yellow exterior looks
organic and fitting - no aftermarket coarseness anywhere;
everything just looks like it BELONGS, albeit to a more high-end
car. Despite 17 years having elapsed since it began its service, it
has only 4,142 miles under its belt, so front to back it retains
those great lines it left the Roush workshop with and the lower
ground effects, so often an area of distress on modified cars, show
very little wear. Even though it retains a good shine, a
professional cut and buff job will take it to a whole new level and
leave it looking its best. The 2000 Mustang was certainly no slouch
in the looks department to begin with and, having been reimagined
with Ford's "New Edge" styling just a year earlier, it's a very
aerodynamic and "performance-forward" looking car.
There's a great looking dark gray interior inside that that shows
almost no perceptible wear on either the buckets in front or bench
seat in back. It's also both a stylish and ergonomic environment
for the driver. The buckets are comfortable and supportive and the
low-profile shifter is positioned within very easy reach on the
center console, which itself features a lot of welcome interior
storage space and an elevation perfect for resting an elbow while
driving. This is a well-equipped car, and all the creature comforts
you'd want are right there, including air conditioning, a tilt
column, cruise control, power locks and windows, and an AM/FM/CD
stereo. In back, the trunk area is in great shape, lined with
unspotted gray carpeting and sporting a still-fresh rubber seal to
keep the elements at bay. Airbags for both driver and passenger add
an extra measure of safety.
This is one pony configured for enthusiastic driving. Under the
hood sits the well-regarded Ford 4.6 liter fuel-injected V8, paired
with a 5-speed manual transmission. Just as you'd expect from a car
with so few miles logged, the engine is in great form, running
strong and emitting a great note through the upgraded exhaust
system. The clutch action is nice and light, and with short throws
as you work your way through the gears, this is one easy-shifting
performer. Among the most tangible benefits of the Roush Stage 2
modification comes in the form of outstanding handling. A lowered
stance, combined with high-rate springs, upgraded Bilstein shocks
and stiffer anti-roll bars give this Mustang some serious cornering
ability - it tested at a very impressive 1.0g on the skidpad, which
puts it on a par with a Porsche 911.
