For Sale: 2009 Dodge Challenger in Lavergne, Tennessee

Vehicle Description

"Pilot prototype Challenger Conv, enjoy, Mr. Norm". This is hand written under the hood. Further descriptions or explanations about this car will be largely unnecessary to those familiar with Mr. Norm and the awesome Mopars he has been building for the last half a century, and inadequate for those yet to become familiar. But let's hit the highlights about this awesome, low mileage car, and encourage you to come in to the dealership, check it out, and learn more.

This car addresses the lack of a factory convertible offering in a stunning way. The front of this tribute prototype sets the tone for the entire vehicle with its bold '71 Hemi 'Cuda inspired grill and a precisely proportioned re-creation of the original shaker hood. That kind of attention to detail continues throughout this build. For example, Mr. Norms created custom quarter panels that feature the correct horizontal character line, completely differentiating it from its Challenger stable mates. The front fenders have brightly trimmed 'Cuda fender gills set into them, and there are bold Hemi billboard graphics at the rear. A custom tail panel was fabricated with actual 1971 Hemi 'Cuda tail light assemblies set into it, and it's also graced with genuine '71 'Cuda script. Exhaust tips, again true to the originals, exit conspicuously from the rear facia, also calling attention to the consistent detail and design continuity of this vehicle. This kind of craftsmanship is a rare treat and a precious commodity.

The interior of this car builds off of the factory offerings with more of a custom, than a tribute approach. And that's OK. Modern comfort, convenience and safety items are wonderful things. You can enjoy the factory Sirius stereo that's compatible with everything, and includes hands free phone operation, as well as a Nav system. Controls for all of that are on the leather wrapped steering wheel with the safety of an air bag built into it, and as expected, there is tilt/cruise, climate control, power windows and locks too. Custom touches include the glove soft, black leather and suede seats with yellow accent stitching, as well as a GSS (Grand Spaulding Special) logo embroidered in the headrest, and Mr. Norm's Hemi Challenger in the seatback. One perfect tribute touch is the precisely re-created Pistol Grip shifter, rendered in carbon fiber and mounted on a chrome plated arm. Sunshine would frequently be included as part of the interior of this convertible, however, when the roof is up, you will enjoy the benefits of a lined roof with superior fit and finish.

Superior is an appropriate description for the engine and drivetrain of this car too. Let's start with the completely reworked and built up Hemi engine. A forged crank, rods and pistons provide 7 liters of displacement making it a true 426 Hemi. A Kenne Bell supercharger, developed and tuned in conjunction with Mr. Norm, provides plenty of boost and lots of power while retaining great low speed drivability for cruise nights. The presentation is sweet too, with the supercharger and intake polished to a mirror like shine, and body colored trim over the valve covers letting you know that Mr. Norm's Garage built this engine. That Pistol Grip shifter is connected to a 6-speed manual trans that sends the power back through an upgraded driveshaft capable of handling the increased power, to a differential and half shafts borrowed from a Viper SRT-10. Brembo brakes provide stopping power and chassis bracing with frame connectors provide necessary reinforcement to the unibody structure.

This is your chance to own a piece of automotive history. A prototype, signed by Norm himself, and featured in numerous magazines worldwide. Don't waste any time! Call, get down there, and check this car out.
