Vehicle Description
It's hard to go wrong with a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro when it has a
such a bold yellow presentation and a 396 big block under the hood.
So if you're not timid, read on...
The bold yellow paint is there to give you an instant attraction,
but this Camaro is more about a mean attitude than romance. It has
an intimidation factor that starts with the unmistakable black
stripe package. They called these a "stinger stripe," and so it
just seems to fit the best on a bumblebee-like yellow coupe with
plenty of aggression. Plus, the blacked-out grille and rear panel
complete this hive of intimidation. But this one also has all the
right original features to draw your eye. Items like the full-width
rear spoiler, wraparound chrome bumpers, and the iconic Rally
wheels are all part of what makes these first-gen coupes so great.
It's particularly nice to see a stock hood with vent tray inserts,
simply because their originality draws even more attention.
Step inside, and this is the perfect blend of vintage and new. For
example, the black vinyl seats and carpentering looks correct, but
they feel fresh from a recent investment. A center console is
always a welcomed sight, and this is particularly attractive thanks
to the premium wood paneling that's continued up the dash. And it's
great to have the iconic horseshoe shifter boldly protruding from
the middle. The stereo could pass for a vintage unit with its
bright knob style presentation, but it's really a more modern
digital AM/FM tuner with provisions for an aux input. The driver
gets a factory-style three-spoke SS sports steering wheel that has
that perfect thin and grippy feeling to instantly take control.
The V8 nearly fills every inch under the hood with its 396
cubic-inch big block power. And the presentation from the shiny air
topper, matching valve covers, and bold orange block, will have you
definitely lifting the hood on this Camaro where you go. More than
just look good, it has all the right performance components, like a
four-barrel carburetor, hi-rise aluminum intake, and Champion
aluminum radiator. The long tube headers add even more power as
they contribute to the rumble of the H-pipe performance exhaust. So
you've got a big power package and the kind of sound that let's
everyone know it, too. Add in the stout TH400 three-speed automatic
transmission and front disc brakes, and you have a Camaro that
looks like it wants to sting you, but is really quite easy to live
with.
A bold presentation and big block power means all the hard work has
been done to this classic muscle machine. So all you have to do is
