In 2011, Porsche saw itself create a swan song of a Porsche 911 as
the last hurrah for the 997 as it reached the end of its
production. A driver-focused GT3 RS with a 4.0 liter 493 horsepower
engine, titanium connecting rods, forged pistons and a crankshaft
lifted from the GT3 RSR race car: The 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
4.0.
Made in a limited quantity of 600 for the entire world, with only
141 available for the U.S., the car was an instant classic. Making
full power at 8,250rpm with a stratospheric redline of 8,500rpm,
the car was the ultimate 911. Paired with rear wheel drive, a
6-speed manual transmission, and one of the last 911s to have
hydraulic steering, the 997 GT3 RS 4.0 is still considered one of
the best driving 911s to date, period.
Purchased from Brumos Porsche of Jacksonville, Florida in January
of 2012, the owner would keep the car for the next 6 years in
pristine condition. Carbon fiber bucket seats, leather with red
Alcantara inserts with matching red accents throughout the cabin.
Adding only 3,458 miles over its entire life, the car represents an
unmolested, low mileage, and collectible GT3 RS 4.0, fitting into
any Porsche collection with ease.
Upon arriving at Canepa, the 911 was treated to the "Canepa
Difference" detail, starting with the chassis. The undersides and
wheel wells were hand cleaned, ensuring that each surface was
spotless. The trunk, interior and engine bay were also cleaned,
ensuring that the GT3 RS presented as though it had just rolled
onto the showroom floor. With the remaining step being the
exterior, the original paint was polished and waxed to an "as new"
finish.
With extremely low mileage, its low production volume, and its 500
horsepower engine paired to its pure driving experience, the 911
GT3 RS 4.0 is a collectible Porsche race car made for the road.
