Vehicle Description
Offered here is an astonishingly beautiful, and exceedingly rare
example of the 1954 Lancia Aurelia B20GT Series IV.
With the finest balance of power and weight, running on the revised
de Dion tube rear suspension, the series IV is one of the most
sought after of the entire run of the Aurelia B20, and this example
is easily among the best you'll find. Having been restored to a
stunning quality by the experts at Strada e Corsa (including an
exceptional paint job in 'Blu Mediterraneo' from a period paint
sample of Dino Cognolato), this car is ready for another rally or
weekend drive. Sporting a full Nardi conversion, which includes
twin downdraft Webers, an alloy Nardi airbox, Nardi sports
camshaft, high compression forged pistons, dynamically balanced
crankshaft, lightened flywheel, reworked combustion chambers and
porting, heavy duty valve springs and an original Lancia Aurelia
Scintilla Vertex magneto, this particular example has exceptional
power and response. The interior is complete with a lovely duo tone
Lancia Blu with Mediterraneo dashboard and Lancia Blu hide
upholstery with grey woollen cloth seats.
Owned for the past few years by a prominent car collector, this B20
has been meticulously cared for and participated in two California
Milles. In its lifetime, according to one of the previous owners in
France, the car was raced in the Mille Miglia and at Monza. This
presents the next owner with significant opportunity for future
vintage racing entries. We contacted Strada e Corsa (who performed
the restoration) to validate this, and this is what they said:
"When we bought it (as restoration project) it had some very
special items which were period optionals and not usual. It had a
NARDI scoop on the bonnet and a 50s style 'bucket seat' and some
more. The NARDI scoop indicates that it had a NARDI double carb set
and a NARDI camshaft. These were special order items and could
indicate that the car was used in some period competition
events.
Our feeling was always that this car must have done some Autosport
events or rally events in period because these items were not
common and only on special request.
Besides they were expensive. However we have searched for some of
the history but could not find anything. One of the French owners
in the past told us the car did race at Monza or Mille Miglia but
we never succeeded to verify for 100%."
