2007 Jaguar XK
History
The Jaguar XK is a two-door grand touring 2+2 manufactured and
marketed by Jaguar Cars from 1996-2014 in coupe and convertible
body styles, across two generations.
No sports cars is more revered then the Jaguar E-type. Borne of
racing, enthusiasts have been rebuilding them ever since the first
ones. Jaguar says that this new 2007 XK-series signals a revival of
its sports car heritage, without forsaking the brand's posh
status.
Why This Car Is Special
The 2007 Jaguar XK we have at Skyway Classics represents a big step
forward in the bold and performance-driven XK lineage. A
combination of technology and tradition that delivers on its tall
order, and puts this cat at the head of the pack.
Mechanical Specs
The powerplant on our XK is the AJ-V8 4.2-liter V-8 which gets a
modest boost in output to 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of
torque with the ZF Sequential Shift automatic transmission. It
includes quick shifting manual paddles on the steering wheel
too.
The XK has a control arm front and multi-link rear suspension,
aided by Computer Active Technology Suspension, which instantly
adjusts suspension damping. To put power to the pavement, are black
10-spoke mag wheels and performance tires.
Hit the big red starter button and the exhaust has a growl.
Acceleration is 0 to 60 in 6.4 seconds with quarter mile times were
14.9 seconds for the coupe.
Interior
The XK's wide, low, 2 plus 2 grey leather cabin has 16-way
power-adjustable seats and is adorned in dark wood. Seating in the
front is luxurious with surprising leg room. The main instruments
are large round analog gauges, with a digital message center in
between. While a seven-inch touch screen in the center stack will
access audio, climate, as well as the standard satellite
navigation.
The 2007 Jaguar XK Coupe combines flowing, elegant design with
robust performance and an impressive list of standard cabin tech,
including Bluetooth hands-free, adaptive cruise control, and a
revamped nav system. The wood-and-leather-trimmed shifter came as
part of our car's $3,300 Luxury Package. The most conspicuous of
these features is a red Start push-button set into the wood-trimmed
center console, which allows drivers to fire up the XK without
removing the key fob from their pockets.
Exterior
Other standard safety systems are antilock brakes (ABS), electronic
brakeforce distribution (EBD), and TracDSC-Jaguar's own version of
dynamic stability control-all working to keep the XK on the road.
The driver and the front passenger also get standard front- and
side-impact airbags with a front occupant-sensing system.
The grey paint is setoff by the black hood accents as well as the
black trim and door handles as well as the black spoiler.
Conclusion
The fabled 2007 Jaguar XK we have at Skyway Classics embodies the
essence of what a true Jaguar is supposed to be. It is sleek, fast,
and a superior sports car, with a combination of heritage, luxury,
and technology. The 2007 XK was also Jaguar's most technically
advanced model ever, at the time.
