For Sale: 1956 Ford Thunderbird in St. Louis, Missouri

Vehicle Description

Very nicely optioned and frame off restored 1956 Ford Thunderbird! Fitted with original 312ci V8, Cruise-O-Matic, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seat, and Stayfast cloth soft top! Factory coded Sunset Coral over White interior! Beautifully executed throughout! Introduced in 1955, Ford's Thunderbird was arguably a response to Chevrolet's Corvette that dazzled the country in 1953. Although instead on competing directly in the sports car market, Ford instead strived to steal attention and launched the car in a new niche category, the "Personal Luxury Car". These cars were, from the beginning, intended not for practicality but rather for function-follows-form touring. These buyers were wealthy and demanded the style, options and easy of drivability of the best cars on the road but with no sacrifice to comfort or reliability. As a result, it was customary to find cushioned rides and big V8 power plants, with automatic transmissions, and full power accessories as optional equipment. None did this better than the original 1955-57 "Baby bird" that remains a style icon almost 60 years later! We are incredibly excited to offer this 1956 Ford Thunderbird Convertible! Stunning does not begin to describe the shade of Sunset Coral on this car; it is truly something that must be seen in person to be appreciated to the fullest! Complementing the exterior is a black cloth soft top and Colonial White & Black combination vinyl interior. The car is powered by a completely rebuilt 312ci V8 and Fordomatic automatic transmission, with factory appointed 3.70:1 rear axle ratio. This car is fitted with great options such as power steering, power brakes, power windows, 4-way power seat, added seatbelts for safety, engine dress-up kit, pushbutton AM Town & Country radio, heater/defrost, windshield washer, telescoping steering column, front license plate bracket, and fender skirts! The car rides on Coker Classic 4-ply wide whitewall tires measuring 6.70-15 all around, finished with period correct wire spoke wheel covers. This beautiful frame-off restored 1956 Ford Thunderbird was finished in 2016 and has covered less than 90 miles since! The exterior paint, chrome, interior upholstery, and undercarriage can all be described as excellent. This car was completed with a careful attention to detail with nearly everything, on every surface, restored to a gloss or semi-gloss finish. Maintaining an original look was the priority, and as a result, the car will impress T-Bird enthusiasts all the while enabling the driver to enjoy the convenience and benefits of a complete 12-volt conversion with alternator charging. The engine bay is highly detailed with every individual component being restored prior to installation, all new hoses & clamps, completely new fuel system from the stainless steel gas tank all the way to the rebuilt carburetor, stainless steel exhaust system, etc. Underneath, the painted frame is complemented with all new or rebuilt suspension components, new brakes lines & components, new steering assembly, rear leaf springs & shocks, body mount hardware, and more! The car comes complete with factory jack & lug wrench, trunk mat, tire changing instructions on trunk lid, and reproduction inspection stamps throughout. A very difficult car to criticize in person, it would be nearly impossible to duplicate the results for our asking price. We would welcome inspections or additional questions. We look forward to your business!
