Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1972 Triumph TR6. This
example is an older but very well-sorted restoration presented in
its original color of Pimento Red with a black canvas top and
interior. Long-term current owner purchased this car in 1988 from
the original owner and embarked upon a three-year, frame-off
restoration from 1989 to 1991. The car has been carefully
maintained by marque experts and driven approximately 25,000 miles
since. Reluctantly offered for sale by its enthusiast owner of
three decades.
Engine fully rebuilt in 1990 by McBetts Racing Engines and fitted
with a Kent "Fast Road" mild cam and Richard Good "Goodparts"
triple Stromberg carburetor setup with custom airbox. Additional
upgrades include electronic ignition, an electric fuel pump, an
auxiliary oil cooler, a new aluminum radiator, custom independent
rear suspension (Revington TR) and custom exhaust - Revington TR
headers to stainless steel Moss exhaust. There's a slight
"lumpiness" to the idle thanks to the cam, but the car is eminently
streetable and makes noticeably more power than a stock TR6. Carbs
are well tuned and the car runs exceptionally well.
Interior shows nicely with good floor mats, seat upholstery, door
panels and dash pad. Exquisite Hawaiian wood dash. All gauges are
working. Custom Alpine/Sony audio. Canvas convertible top is in
good condition except for the rear window, which has faded and
cracked with age. Paint is a little faded after 30 years, but there
are no known rust issues or bubbling on the topside of this car -
undercarriage is largely solid with the only known issues being a
few pinholes starting on the driver's side floor pan and some
slight corrosion in the very right rear corner of the car in the
lower valance beneath the bumper. New Vredestein tires on stock
wheels.
Overall the car shows to a driver standard cosmetically (it would
need a paint job to take this car to the next level), but
mechanically it's one of the strongest we've seen. It's had just
the right performance updates and modifications without losing its
quintessentially English charm. For more information about this
