Vehicle Description
The SL-Class has always been the premier 2-door line for
Mercedes-Benz. Starting with the breathtaking 190SL and 300SL
models in the 1950's, Mercedes has always delivered a stunning
combination of luxury and performance. The R129 model hit showroom
floors from 1990 to 2002, and in 1999, it received an upgraded 302
horsepower engine. Like many imported cars in the late 90's, they
were overbuilt, meaning they were engineered to perfection. This
example is no exception, and has the lowest mileage of any R129
we've seen.
We are pleased to offer this 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Roadster with
just 25k original miles and finished in a beautiful color
combination. The car is painted in factory original Firemist Red
Metallic over an original Shell leather interior. It is powered by
Mercedes' 5.0L/302hp V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission.
Engine is up front with power provided to the rear wheels - a true
sports car set up. It has a matching Firemist removable hardtop and
a power black soft top. The car remains 100% original from the
factory and all surfaces: inside, outside, top, bottom are in
excellent condition. No rust anywhere. All power functions work as
they should, including the hardtop release, the retractable soft
top, locks, windows, seats, mirrors, and the rear-folding roll bar.
Other noteworthy features include fog lamps, wood trim, heated
seats, Bose speakers, cruise control, trunk CD changer, and "W"
(Winter) and "S" (Sport) driving modes, even though the car was
never driven in winter. Service has been done in a timely fashion
with receipts available. The most recent work performed last year
was replacing the convertible top hydraulic system, which are
notorious for malfunction over time. The car also comes with a
windscreen, first aid kit, full spare, car cover, books, manuals,
service records, rubber floor mats, brand new carpet floor mats,
two key fobs, clean CarFax report, and even an odometer statement
from the previous selling dealer verifying the mileage: 19,926 in
November of 2011.
Earlier model SL's continue to climb in value and the R129 SL500 is
the next collector car to appreciate, especially one this clean
with such low miles. And its an investment you can actually drive
and enjoy. The car fires on command, drives smooth, and is tight in
the turns. These cars were built to perform and outfitted with
class. Original MSRP was north of $80k. Party like it's 1999,
indeed! Be sure to check out over 200 photos, including
