a more powerful R-model competition package based on the 1995 SVT
Cobra. The SVT team replaced the Mustang's 5.0 small block with a
new version of the 351 Windsor small block, developed and designed
to produce 300 horsepower and an earth moving 365 ft lbs. of
torque. To Handle the torque of the more powerful engine, a TREMEC
five-speed manual transmission was installed, as well as a race
ready 20 gallon Fuel-Safe fuel cell. True to its purpose, weight
savings was key, so there is no back seat, no radio, no air
conditioning... not even fog lights! Taking the place of the
original fog lights the SVT team are air ducts for channeling cool
air to the front brake discs. Heavy-duty progressive-rate springs,
thicker stabilizer bars and a front strut tower brace helped
improve handling. All said, only 250 vehicles were built, they were
