Vehicle Description
1956 Chevrolet Nomad
Arguably the most desirable of the Tri-Five 1955-1957 Chevys was
the limited production Nomad Two-Door Station Wagon. It was the
division's most expensive car at $2,707 except for the two-seater
Corvette. Chevy sold just 7,886 for 1956, the second of three years
the car was produced. Following the phenomenal success of the 1955
models, Chevrolet created an equally successful lineup for 1956.
The Nomad was fittingly part of the top-of-the-line Bel Air series
which sported more chrome and bright trim along with full carpets,
dual sunvisors and an electric clock among its extras.
This 1956 Nomad VIN# VC56B101200 is a fresh home restoration that
was done at a very high level of quality. The odometer shows 70,747
miles, but the consigner claims there's less than 5 miles since the
restoration was finished. It has the original 265ci engine and
3-speed manual transmission, with an Indy floor shifter. The engine
has power pack heads and an early Corvette intake and 4-barrel
carburetor. The interior is an attractive soft yellow vinyl and
charcoal cloth in the original pattern. The brake system has an
upgrade to power with a dual master cylinder, but the drum brakes
have been retained front and rear. The Chevrolet Rally Wheels with
disc brake center caps give the car an attractive look.
