Vehicle Description
1966 was the first year for the Generation 5 Ford Fairlane. Its
appearance was changed to match the full-sized Ford with the front
end featuring vertically stacked dual headlights. The changes
produced a much more aggressive look in the Fairlane. This
aggressive look was matched with genuine high performance in the
GT, and GTA packages. The GT/GTA 390 CID engine developed 335 bhp
with higher compression, and a four-barrel carburetor. This great
example of the breed features the original 390 topped with a modern
Holley 4-barrel with the power flowing through a 4-speed manual
transmission. The Holley carb and 4-speed trans original to the car
are both included with this Fairlane. The car was purchased by the
current owners father in 1966 from a Waco-area Ford dealer which is
still in business. Produced in 1966 by Fords Atlanta, Georgia
assembly facility, this Fairlane is in largely original condition
and sports a very attractive, recently-done exterior paint job. The
interior is original to the vehicle when it came from the factory
in 1966. The 390 is strong and the trans shifts nicely as you run
through the gears. To provide more power to the rear axle, this
Fairlane came without power steering or brakes. The brakes are
drums all around and, which they stop the car just fine, additional
driving distance between your Fairlane and the car ahead is a good
practice! Aftermarket A/C has been added as a necessity for hot
Texas summers. This Fairlane GT provides an opportunity to own a
great example of Fords mid-1960s high-performance products. This
era gave birth to so many fantastic vehicles developed by all the
US car companies. This beautiful hardtop is a worthy representative
of that exciting automotive decade and has a degree of rarity that
ensures its next lucky owner will enjoy a degree of exclusivity
which attracts attention from true car lovers wherever he/she
cruises this great ride.
