Vehicle Description
As you motor along in this unique ride, youll capture a lot of
attention from knowledgeable car people and even non-car people may
ask What is it Well, its a 1991 Dodge Stealth R/T and only 3979
were made that year so you wont see one every few feet as is the
case with the Toyota Camry. Named by Hagerty as one of the
collectible vehicles most likely to appreciate in value during
2018, this fine example is a very affordable opportunity to get
into the Stealth market at a bargain basement price. An offshoot of
the Mitsubishi GTO, the Stealth was manufactured by Mitsubishi in
Japan and sold by Chrysler in North America as the Dodge Stealth
captive import from the 1991 to 1996 model years. A Dodge Stealth
was initially to be used as a pace car for the 1991 Indianapolis
500 race. The United Auto Workers (UAW), however, did not like the
idea of a Japanese-manufactured car being a pace car for the race,
and a prototype Dodge Viper was substituted. The first generation
incorporated many of Mitsubishis contemporary performance-enhancing
technologies, such as full time all wheel drive, four wheel
steering, active aerodynamics featuring automatically-adjusting
front and rear spoilers, a tuneable exhaust and electronically
controlled suspension (ECS). Visually, the cars featured pop-up
headlights and noticeable caps on the hood to accommodate the ECS
controllers at the top of the strut turrets. The SOHC 12-valve
engine produces 220 horsepower, more than enough to bring a smile
to your face as you press down on the go pedal while the
transmission quickly and smoothly shifts through its gears. You can
choose between performance and economy modes, depending on your
mood and challenges youll receive from drivers of far less capable
vehicles. The Stealth was loaded with a host of cutting-edge
features and all of them work very nicely in this example of the
breed. And, handling is great not only in a straight line but on
twisting roads. The interior is in very good condition and the
front seats are very comfortable whether engaged in highway
cruising or the challenging twists and turns of hilly country
roads. This great Stealth is ready and waiting to provide plenty of
driving fun in a unique, highly engineered performance vehicle.
