If you were quick to look past this unassuming 2012 Chevrolet
Camaro SS, you would have missed out on one of the most complete
and incredible builds we have ever seen roll through the doors.
Simply put, this Camaro is not for the timid or faint of heart.
This 5th-gen is a 700hp fire-breathing, track day, monster that was
professionally built, driven and raced by Kyle Tucker owner of
Detroit Speed Engineering and his team at their headquarters in
Mooresville, NC.
The team at Detroit Speed Engineering never does anything halfway.
Point in case, this incredible 2012 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS that has
earned the nickname of the DSE staff of "The White Monster". Take a
moment and examine every corner of the car and you'll notice very
quickly the inspiration and intention of this build. Kyle Tucker
and Detroit Speed's plan was to build this Camaro as a no-nonsense,
barely street-legal, race-ready, hot rod that is built to perform
at the highest level at any road course or auto cross. All-while
still being fully street legal.
Originally used as a test mule for BF Goodrich, today the car is
powered by a 7.14L aluminum RHS block that MAST Motorsports
machined the LS7 to 436ci and then was built with only the best
products including Callies Dragonslayer crank, Callies HD I-beam
rods, Diamond Racing pistons, MAST 305 LS7 aluminum heads and ARP
fasteners. Kyle Tucker and DSE Engineer Ryan Matthews piloted the
car to multiple class wins during the 2013 USCA Optima GT schedule,
GoodGuys All-American Sunday winner, a SCCA class winner and graced
the cover of the final issue of Camaro Performers in July of
2014.
Anyone familiar with the fifth gen Camaros know that weight is the
biggest obstacle facing a driver wanting to compete with the
vehicle. Take a moment and look in the interior to see how much was
done to lighten up the vehicle. If it wasn't essential for the
vehicle operation it was done away with. The body and tunnel was
lightened, all four seats removed, custom carbon fiber dash and a
Autometer LCD dash system installed, Custom carbon fiber false
floors, Carbon Fiber decklid, aluminum hood, aluminum rear
diffuser, and a pair of Sparco EVO seats installed with a FIA NASA
roll cage.
We haven't even touched on the incredible suspension and stopping
power yet, but you can see the complete build specs below contain
only the best equipment. And once again, you'll see how no corners
were cut, no shortcuts were taken, every aspect of the car was
meticulously examined or custom designed. In total over $200,000
was invested in this car and it needs absolutely nothing. If you
are in the market for the ultimate performance car that can handle
and stop as well as it can accelerate than this is it. Call today!
See below for full build specs.
Also, being sold with this car is a personal shop tour of the
Detroit Speed headquarters in Mooresville, NC.
