Vehicle Description
This 1972 K5 Blazer Resto-Mod originally sold new in New Mexico.
Over 1,200 hours went into this complete frame-off build. The solid
body retains 95% of its original sheet metal, completely stripped,
top to bottom. The underside was epoxy primed and coated with U-Pol
Raptor protective coating for chip and sound control. Dynamat
insulation on the floor and firewall provides additional sound and
heat control. All metal was epoxy primed and finished off with BASF
urethane paint. The frame, radiator support, inner fenders and
original skid plates are finished with powder coat. Powered by a
new LT1 6.2-liter, 460hp engine with a GM Connect-and-Cruise 4L75E
automatic overdrive transmission, mated to the original NP-205
transfer case. The engine is cooled by a DeWitt aluminum radiator.
Fuel tank is stainless steel, from Rick's Hot Rods, and includes a
new, original GM ZL1 fuel pump. The front and rear axles are
upgraded with new Eaton posi-traction units, gears and axles,
bearings and seals, aluminum differential covers, stainless-steel
brake lines and all new leaf springs. Five new alloy wheels with
Goodyear tires complete the ride. The showroom condition interior
includes all new upholstery, carpet and weatherstripping. The
comfort is handled by a Vintage Air heating and cooling system.
Dashboard includes factory gauges, Ididit tilt steering column
wheel and a reproduction AM/FM stereo. An included photo album
shows the original condition at purchase in March 2017, and
demonstrates the build process. Less than 200 miles since
completion in February 2018.
