The Mercedes-Benz SL series started out as the top of the line
sports luxury tourer that offered both performance and comfort. The
third generation SL was called the R107 chassis and is one of the
most recognizable Mercedes of all time. Produced from 1971 all the
way to 1989, the R107 lived a long and cherished life. The United
States was an extremely popular market for the personal luxury
coupe and almost ? of all SL's were sold here. Unfortunately, US
regulations mandated big bumpers, low power headlights, and
emission choked engines. While not as quick or pretty as their
European cousins, the US market SL's still represented the cream of
the personal luxury car crop. The most desirable of the US versions
were the late model 560SL that had a host of modern features as
well as the largest M117 5.5L V8 that Mercedes offered!
GR Auto Gallery is very pleased to present this excellent 1987
560SL for your consideration. The car looks great on the outside
with the car being resprayed in its original Smoke Silver over
maroon leather. The exterior chrome and rubber trim is in excellent
shape and shines up very well. The factory hardtop is color matched
and fits perfectly. The interior is traditional Benz, with real
leather seats, burl wood trim, heat and air conditioning and even a
temperature gauge! An aftermarket stereo is fitted and works well.
The leather steering wheel is in great shape and features an
optional factory airbag.
The current owners have had the car for two years and it has been
well kept throughout its life. The current owners have recently
changed all of the belts as well as the fluids and claim that a
recent compression test shows that the engine is in optimal shape.
Two sets of keys as well as the owners manual and even the factory
spare are included with this beautiful car!
