For Sale: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS in Lavergne, Tennessee

Vehicle Description

If you are one of a growing number of people who appreciate "survivor" cars, or if you are just looking for a sweet convertible to drive, then you will want to check this one out. While people may argue about the precise definition of "survivor", this '68 Camaro RS convertible is definitely a contender for the title. This is an all stock, numbers matching car.

Rarity has a big impact on the desirability and value of a car that is preserved through time the way it was delivered back in the day, wear, blemishes and all. How many unmolested first gen Camaro convertibles are left in the world? Who knows, but most people would agree that this car is one of them and fits the definition of the category. Butternut Yellow is a beautiful color on these cars, especially in combination with the white top. The car appears to have all it's original panels and only repainted one time! The chrome and trim are in nice shape, looks older, and is possibly all original too. The power convertible roof is in decent shape with no tears, but does show some discoloration. Of-course, nobody messes with an RS grill with the hideaway headlights except to fix and preserve it, so no worries there. Factory steel wheels with trim rings and Chevrolet wheel centers complete the look on the outside.

The interior of this car is white, code 730, which indicates Parchment custom buckets. It is nice and clean with wear that is consistent with its age. The front door panels on the car are replacements, and look great, but if you are focused on the survivor aspect, don't worry, the original ones come with the car. The dash pad looks great too, but may have been replaced also. The dash, gauges, vents and controls are all stock and original. It appears that the radio in the upper console is still the original unit, although it may need a little attention to wake it back up. The horseshoe shifter for the 3-speed automatic sits nicely in the center console which extends back between the seats and has a nice little compartment to stash things in. Seats and carpet all appear to be original and are in great shape with minor wear, again consistent with their age.

Pop the hood and you will find that numbers matching 327 sitting nicely in an engine compartment that is neat and clean and stock. There are signs of normal and regular maintenance. There are newer belts and hoses, as you would expect on a car that is 50 years old. The stock air cleaner that sits on top of the 2-bbl Rochester carb got the job done quite nicely back in the day, and still does. The intake, heads, manifolds and exhaust are all stock too. Factory and stock are also the words of the day for the rest of the drivetrain. Transmission, suspension, steering, brakes.

This car is a good looking, fun car. It was when it was built new, and it still is. Driver, or survivor. Whatever your preference is, come on down and check out this sweet little convertible.
