Vehicle Description
This 1951 Chevrolet 3600 is a nicely restored pickup with all the
right extras. Extra wood, extra-long bed, an extra gear, and extra
charm come together to make a standout classic.
It's hard not to get drawn in by an interesting pickup like this
one. Refinished in traditional deep India Red with added texture
underneath the paint, this oldtimer looks highly authentic with an
added dose of attitude. The Advance Design trucks are an enduring
icon because they are the first new-style post-war pickups to hit
the market. With car-like hood and fenders, they have an instant
attraction that comes from spending real time in GM's legendary
design studio. This one has a level of quality that tells you
someone invested some time and money into erasing its decades as a
workhorse. The panels align nicely, the glass is clear, and the
doors shut with authority. And you can even spot some subtle
upgrades like the clear halogen lights and custom rear roll pan.
But the part we bet you love the most is the real wood. When this
was restored, the running boards, side rails, and bed floor all
received the same finish to the lumber, which really adds extra
character to the truck. Plus, have you noticed this is a true
workman's vehicle with the longer bed?
If you like the deep red and dark tan on the exterior, then you'll
love the interior, too. The restoration did a great job of
utilizing the exterior color for a glossy finish on the dash, and
the new tan vinyl on the bench seat feels far more comfortable than
anything out of the '50s. And the atmosphere is quite fresh,
because everything from the steering column to the floor mat has
been recently rebuilt/replaced. But all the investments are subtle
upgrades, because a truck like this never wants to lose its
old-school charm. In fact, from the moment you get behind the
classic three-spoke steering wheel, it has the perfect amount of
patina and worn-in grip that will instantly have you feel connected
to the generations of people who relied on this Chevy for their
daily work.
Under the hood is a 235 cubic-inch inline six. It's an upgrade in
displacement over what was available in '51 without losing the
iconic Stovebolt attitude. More importantly, there has been some
serious investments under the hood, including, a rebuilt
carburetor, reconditioned radiator, 12-volt system/alternator
upgrade, and a ton more to make this a reliable friend today. In
fact, there's less than 50 miles on it since the rebuild! And not
only does the motor make this truck a great classic, but so does
the four-speed manual transmission. It's a period-correct option
for heavy duty pickups, and first gear is nice and low for plenty
of immediate torque. And with the new brake cylinders and shoes
combined with the period-correct Goodyear Workhorse tires, you get
a truck that feels vintage and yet still ready to work.
The sale comes complete with a ton of build receipts and
maintenance records. Look around, but you probably won't find many
trucks with some many extra features as this one. And distinction
is the cornerstone for both fun and value. Call today!!!
