Super Beetle. In 1972, VW marketed their top of the line Beetle in
the US as the Super Beetle. This model included the Luxus or "L"
package (upgrades such as twin map pockets, dual rear ashtrays,
full carpeting, a passenger-side visor vanity mirror, and rubber
bumper moldings). The rear-mounted, air-cooled 1600cc engine, which
produced 60 efficient, German horsepower also featured twin-port
cylinder heads and a larger, relocated oil cooler. Visibility was
increased in the 1972 Beetle with the 11% enlargement of the rear
window. This particular Super Beetle wears a fully repainted coat
of blue on the outside, which is matched with a sleek, black
interior. Working headlights with brights, turn signals, parking
lights, brake lights, and wipers can be found around the car, along
