Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1978 International Scout
Traveler, a well-optioned truck with a 345 cubic inch V8, automatic
transmission and air conditioning. A long-wheelbase version of the
popular Scout II, the Traveler has tons of extra cargo space behind
the rear seat - perfect for kids, pets, gear, etc. And like the
regular Scout II, the hard top is removable.
This Traveler was built by GRC Fabrication in Cleveland, Georgia -
it's mechanically one of the best we've seen and it runs and drives
far better than most Scouts due to the care and attention to detail
of the suspension and fuel injection setup. Under the hood is a
345ci V8 running throttle body fuel injection and MSD ignition.
Complete engine re-gasket plus full service and tune up. New water
pump, thermostat, radiator, belts and hoses. Rebuilt A/C system
running R-134a with new compressor, condenser, expansion valve and
hoses. Rebuilt TorqueFlite 727 automatic transmission with shift
kit. Runs (and shifts) beautifully.
The truck has impressive driving dynamics and ride quality thanks
to a spring-over-axle conversion with the front axle cut and turned
for six degrees of positive caster. New bushings, shackles, shocks,
spring perches, brakes and ball joints. New power steering pump,
steering linkages and rebuilt steering box with reinforcement
plate.
Interior is well appointed with comfortable and supportive Corbeau
Baja RS front seats; the stock rear bench seat has been
reupholstered in matching Corbeau material. Roll bar with
three-point belts front and rear plus custom child latch bar behind
the rear seat base. Modern stereo with four speakers. 12-volt plug
and USB charges have been added to the back of the center console.
All gauges are working. Interior floors have been rhino lined for
all-weather durability; the foam rubber padding on the floors is
removable (it's not glued down) and really helps with both sound
and heat insulation.
Finished in desert tan with a black hard top and rallye stripe.
Custom GRC side bars and bumpers (rear bumper has swing out tire
carrier, plus mounts for a high-lift jack and a jerry can, both of
which are included). 33x12.50 BF Goodrich all terrains on black
powder coated factory wagon wheels. Upgraded H4 headlights. It's
not rusty and it has a great look but there are a few small dents
and dings and battle scars - it has just enough patina to give it
character without being ratty.
In July of 2017, the truck was driven to Colorado to participate in
the 2017 Rocky Mountain IH Rendezvous, winning second place in its
class. It has been driven over 10,000 miles throughout the course
of 2017-18 so it's very well sorted and completely turn-key for its
next owner. Detailed build specs available upon request. For more
