384 cid 8-cylinder engine
3-speed manual transmission
As manufacturer of some of the finest examples of the prewar era,
Packard built its automobiles to the highest standards. First
introduced in 1924, the Model Eight was the first of the breed to
feature four-wheel brakes, which were a welcome addition due to the
power on tap from the potent eight-cylinder engine. With some of
the most attractive styling seen in the period, Packard continued
to shine in 1933 with its tenth series models, which were featured
in 55 body styles on five different wheelbase lengths. The Super
Eight featured a 384 cid engine and a fully synchromesh
transmission, making it a decided rarity for the period. In the
midst of the Great Depression, however, few buyers could afford the
enormous price tag, forcing production of the 1004 series to less
than 1,400 examples.
