Vehicle Description
This 2001 Z06 can be appreciated from a couple different angles.
You might appreciate it as an original, low mileage, great looking,
special model, Corvette. Or, you might appreciate it as a
reincarnation of the first high performance Z06 offering from 1963,
with updated technology, and stunning performance capabilities. But
of course, it's OK if you appreciate this car for all the
above.
Shining bright in its Quicksilver Metallic paint and updated C7 Z06
wheels, this car will turn heads wherever it goes. Z06s tend to be
either driven hard, or cared for meticulously. It's obviously that
this one falls into the second group. The paint is near perfect and
looks like it has received a recent, first class detail. It looks
really sharp. This body style is referred to as a FRC, or Fixed
Roof Coupe. So that makes it a notchback design with a very nice
little trunk. A couple Z06 performance tells you can see on the
body are the bigger tires tucked under the fenders, and the
functional brake ducts. Also, those massive rotors and red brake
calipers would not normally be considered an appearance item on
most cars, but they sure do show through those chrome wheels nicely
on this one. Built for speed and shaped by the wind, this car looks
good standing still or rolling down the road.
The black interior with red treatments to the lower door panels and
dash is very striking. Those power leather sport bucket seats with
Z06 embroidered into them are sweet too. They support you in all
the right places so just sitting in them feels good, but of course
they are also designed to provide great side support for spirited
driving. An old school, leather wrapped shifter falls easily to
hand, and a beefy, leather wrapped steering wheel frames a
tachometer with a 6500 RPM redline. That sits next to a speedo
marked up to 200 MPH and has the low, 41,985 miles this car has
traveled indicated just below it. Dual zone climate controls allow
driver and passenger to choose their individual preferred
temperatures for traveling, and of course there are power windows,
locks, and a Bose sound system to bring music to your ears.
However, the music you want to hear may be the sound of that LS6
engine breathing out of those quad tailpipes. Starting with the
outstanding, all aluminum LS1, GM improved the head design and
fine-tuned numerous other details to produce an engine that makes
405 horsepower. The only thing that is not stock and original on
this car is a free flow air filter, so maybe bump that HP figure a
little bit. A 6-speed, Borg Warner T-56, has revised gearing in
first and second gears which is unique to the Z06, and provides a
little extra punch off the line. An FE4 suspension, also courtesy
of the Z06 package, is race inspired with specially tuned shocks,
stiffer anti-roll bars, and stiffer springs. Those massive rotors
mentioned earlier provide incredible stopping power, and everything
gets to the ground through massive 275/40ZR18 tires in the rear,
and 245/45ZR17s in the front.
Z06s are special cars. They have awesome performance capabilities,
and hold their value better than most models. Come by the showroom
and decide what you appreciate most about this super clean, low
mileage example. Then take it home an appreciate in your
garage.
