1962 Ford Galaxie 500 XL
In 1962, the Galaxie name was applied to all of Ford's full size
model cars. The new top-of-the-line Galaxie
500 models offered plusher interiors, more chrome trim
outside, and a few additional luxury items over and above what was
standard on the plainer Galaxie models. In the middle of
the 1962 model year program, Ford introduced a group of sporty cars
along with a "Lively Ones" marketing campaign. These Galaxie 500 XL
models featured bucket seats and a center console which was
referred to as Lively One in Ford's marketing. Ford stated in its
sales literature that XL stood for "Xtra Lively."
This Galaxie 500 XL received a complete, professional, restoration
in 2014. The body work and paint was performed by an award
winning body shop out of Provo, UT. The car received a new
390 V-8 and the transmission was upgraded to a C6 Automatic.
Comfort and Handling of this car is enhanced with upgraded power
steering. The interior is new as are the tires and
exhaust.
The builder of this car has won awards all over the country on many
of his other builds, and specializes in Ford cars and
trucks.
