In 1979, Mercedes Benz introduced the W126 generation of its top of
the line S class. The SEC coupe came a long a few years later in
1981. Featuring the latest developments in manufacturing and
technology, the S class brought new levels of comfort, safety,
efficiency, and ride and handling to the top end luxury market.
With a range of engines and variations, the W126 series was
extremely popular and the model enjoyed a 12 year production run,
the longest of any S class ever.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this very nice and highly
original 560SEC for your consideration. Coming to us from its
second elderly owner in Florida, this low mileage example
represents a very understated, but unique classic. The car is
finished in a rare shade of Desert Taupe, and the quality of the
paint itself is excellent. Less than 30k 560SECs were made and
Desert Taupe was one of the less optioned colors. The body is very
straight and free of dents and imperfections. The chrome and rubber
trim are in excellent shape and show no signs of degradation. It
was definitely a garage kept vehicle. The factory 15in
"Gullideckel" alloy wheels are in excellent shape and have newer
tires. The interior is impressively original, down to the factory
headlight washers and original windshield sticker. The tan interior
shows very well. Leather seats are in excellent shape with the only
flaws being a little normal wear on the driver's seat and a couple
cracks up near the rear headrests. The dashboard is very clean and
crack free. The burlwood trim is intact but shows a bit of cracking
in the veneer. All functions of this vehicle are working well, from
the power heated front seats, power windows, climate control, dual
tone horn, power sunroof, rebuilt Becker radio, rear self leveling
air suspension, twin airbags, and power mirrors.
These big Mercedes coupes are getting rarer and rarer as time goes
by. You'd be hard pressed to find a car that rides as smoothly and
drives with this much grace. The 5.5L M117 V8 engine is very
powerful, with 275hp, mated to a smooth shifting intelligent
4-speed automatic transmission. With tons of service records
including refreshed engine, refreshed a/c, rebuilt radio, and
brakes, this highly original, low mileage 560SEC is a unique
proposition. It even has three keys, original first aid kit and the
unopened factory tool kit!
