For Sale: 1966 Buick Skylark in Manitowoc, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

Price reduced!  All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance.  I can assist with financing and transport as needed.

Here is a low-priced classic with a lot to offer.  This 1966 Buick Skylark represents an excellent value, sharing the same GM A-body platform as the Chevelle and GTO but for a lot less money.  Throw in a great running Buick V8, new paint, aftermarket wheels, and front disc brakes and you have a car that drives as good as it looks.

This Skylark has seen a lot of recent work.  It started with the body that was in good condition but needing a new trunk floor along with a few typical rust repairs.  Once completed the car was re-sprayed a beautiful Dark Shadow Gray Metallic.  I think the color looks great on the sharp lines of the Skylark, especially with the new Coys black chrome wheels.  The hard-to-find bumpers are original as are the front grille and rear trim panel.

The engine is Buick’s 300 cubic inch small block V8, also referred to as the “310” in reference to its torque rating.  The engine just received a new camshaft, lifters, and timing chain.  It also has a factory aluminum intake manifold and rebuilt Rochester 4-barrel carburetor.  The automatic transmission is Buick’s ST-300 which works great including the “switch pitch” and kickdown features.

Additional recent work includes new front spindles with a 2” drop along with rear air shocks.  The power steering received a new center link.  The power brakes have a new master cylinder and booster, while the fronts were converted to discs with drilled and slotted rotors.  There is also a new aluminum radiator.  It all makes for a reliable, nice riding car that is easy for anyone to drive.

The interior is a combination of old and new.  The seats and door panels appear original but still look nice.  The headliner needed some attention so it was replaced.  The dash is factory while the steering wheel is aftermarket.  All the indicator lights and gauges work properly as do the horn, heater, defroster, wipers, and courtesy lights.  However the original clock and “Sonomatic” AM radio are non-functional.

This is a great car for someone wanting an affordable turn-key classic from the 60’s.  It has all the looks of its more expensive cousins from Chevrolet and Pontiac but at half the price.  And with all the recent work and upgrades it becomes a pretty easy decision.
